Aided speech intelligibility scores were obtained in quiet and in noise from 18 subjects with high-frequency sensorineural loss, using standard, vented, and open earmolds. Results showed that scores obtained through the open earmold were superior to those obtained through the standard earmold, both in quiet and in noise. There were no significant differences between the standard and vented earmold, or between the open and vented earmold. Twelve of the subjects preferred the open earmold.
